Michael M. Thomas is a founding partner of Thomas & Thomas. Michael practices in the area of civil litigation and works extensively in the arena of Corporate and Business law in addition to Trusts and Estates. His work assists business clients both locally and across the State of Tennessee both in and out of court and has broad experience in estate litigation. He works closely with startup businesses to help them achieve success.
Michael spent several years as an entrepreneur during his late college years while still attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and continued the path of business ownership following graduation. In 2007, he left the business world to seek his true calling as an attorney. It is his experience of owning a business that allows Michael to understand the stresses and struggles each individual endures when starting their own business.
Michael grew up on Lookout Mountain, Tennessee and graduated from the Baylor School where he has served as a member of the Alumni Board. Michael is the former President of the Chattanooga Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division, where he was active in numerous community service and leadership projects. Active in his home community, Michael also served with the Lookout Mountain Volunteer Fire Department.
Michael currently lives in Ooltewah with his wife, Amy, and their youngest daughters Josie and Ella. Amy is a registered nurse who has practiced at Erlanger Health System and with Amedisys North Georgia Home Health. Their oldest daughter, Brittany, currently attends the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she is a biology major and plans to pursue a career in medicine. Amy and Michael were married at the Church of the Good Shepard on Lookout Mountain. As an avid outdoorsman, Michael enjoys spending his spare time with his family at their farm in Niota, Tennessee. You can regularly find Michael, Amy, and Ella running the trails of Harrison Bay.
Michael earned his J.D. in 2010 from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis and his B.S in 2003 from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
